Friday makes folding desks for working from home.
The nature of work has changed. Between 2018 and 2021, the percentage of fully remote workers in the USA increased from 6% to 26.7%, and there are expected to be 36.2M remote workers in the USA by 2025. In fact, of those workers who are capable of working from home, only 6% want to work in the office full time, and it’s easy to understand why. Remote work eliminates hours of commuting time, leads to better productivity, and offers more flexibility to care for loved ones.
However, remote work is not without its drawbacks. 40% of remote workers say that work/life balance is their biggest challenge, which comes as no surprise when one considers we are asking our homes to fulfill a need for which they were never intended: as a multi-purpose work and living space. For many of us, our home offices perform double duty: as a bedroom, living room, kitchen, or hallway, so when the evening or weekend rolls around, you are left feeling like you live in your office, and struggle to leave the workday behind. Surging property prices and demand for more living space is proof that those with the means to do so, are expanding their homes to include additional rooms to serve as a dedicated workspace, to be entered during working hours and closed off and forgotten the rest of the time. But what about the rest of us?
The Clamshell Desk has everything you would want in a dedicated office in a fraction of the space, and for far less money than renting a bigger apartment. Best of all, when the day is done it folds away into the background, so you can switch off for the day and enjoy your home.
